“…The articles in this special issue reflect the diversity of possibilities. When the tailoring process is based on the individual’s pretreatment characteristics, such variables included patients’ demographics (Boswell et al, 2021; Bruijniks et al, 2021), pretreatment symptom severity (Boswell et al, 2021; Bruijniks et al, 2021; Webb et al, 2021), health status (Bruijniks et al, 2021), affect and affect regulation (Bruijniks et al, 2021; Webb et al, 2021), interpersonal functioning (Bruijniks et al, 2021), self-esteem (Webb et al, 2021), dysfunctional thinking (Bruijniks et al, 2021), well-being (Bruijniks et al, 2021), self-injuries (Webb et al, 2021), pretreatment expectations (Bruijniks et al, 2021), type of presenting problems and their level of complexity (Boswell et al, 2021), and neurocognitive capabilities (e.g., working memory, Bruijniks et al, 2021). The tailoring process may also be based on the patients’ self-monitoring of real-life data, such as social interactions, using an electronically activated recorder (Minor et al, 2021) or on the patients’ preferences regarding the characteristics of treatment, such as primary treatment targets (Langer et al, 2021).…”
