Climate awareness is a major topic of concern, and the Green Deal in Europe attempts to turn states, communities, and local actors towards more environmentally conscious action to reduce, by 2030, the net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55%. Universities voluntarily adhered to the 2030 Agenda, displaying a wide variety of approaches to respond to sustainability goals and calls for greening. The purpose of the present study is to establish the students’ readiness for action as sustainability promoters, starting with their awareness of environmental issues. Upon focusing on the perceptions of students from the oldest university in western Romania gathered via an online questionnaire in 2023, the research showed that 95.6% of respondents consider climate issues as important or very important to them, even though less than 50% of the sample evaluate their own knowledge of environmental protection as good or very good. The results show that of the parameters that differentiate student awareness and actions, gender and place of residence (on campus/off campus) play a significant role, helping shape tailored strategies and projects to capitalize on students’ predispositions to engage (or not) in environment-related activities.

Recognizing environmental concerns is crucial for fostering a mindset and implementing behaviors that contribute to sustainability. Individuals with good environmental awareness engage well in environmentally supportive behaviors and think in ways that contribute to a sustainable future. The current research aims to assess the level of environmental awareness among Saudi women and unveil the relationship between the level of environmental awareness and sustainable thinking. Additionally, the research seeks to explore the possibility of predicting sustainable thinking based on the level of environmental awareness. A questionnaire on environmental awareness and a questionnaire on sustainable thinking were applied to 176 female teachers working in the Wadi Dawasir governorate educational administration. The study utilised a descriptive-analytical methodology, namely the correlational predictive approach, to examine the relationship between the research variables and make predictions about their associations. The research results indicated a high level of environmental awareness among the research sample and a high level of sustainable thinking. Furthermore, the findings revealed a statistically significant positive correlational relationship between the level of environmental awareness and sustainable thinking. The results also demonstrated the possibility of predicting sustainable thinking based on the level of environmental awareness in the research sample.

This study investigates the intricate relationship between environmental sustainability and the daily lives of multi-major students in Islamic campuses. Grounded in the imperative to integrate sustainability into educational institutions, particularly Islamic universities, the research explores students’ perspectives on creating a ’Green Campus.’ Employing a descriptive research approach with a socio-cultural phenomenological framework, the study utilizes purposive sampling and qualitative interviews with 12 students from four majors. The findings illuminate a commitment to sustainability deeply embedded in the academic community, contributing to the campus’s recognition as one of the top 10 green campuses. While acknowledging positive aspects, the study also delves into challenges, such as inconsistent cleanliness and toilet-related issues, emphasizing the need for continuous improvement. The research aims to contribute to the discourse on creating eco-conscious educational environments by understanding the intersection of Islamic values and sustainable practices. In conclusion, the study sheds light on the commitment to sustainability within the academic community, portraying Islamic campuses as hubs for environmentally responsible future leaders.
