Perspectives of Heat Stroke Shield: An IoT based Solution for the Detection and Preliminary Treatment of Heat Stroke

Abstract: Heat stroke is considered a major problem in Karachi, with a considerable number of people recorded as victims each year. The proposed Internet-of-Things (IoT) based heat stroke shield works under heat stroke conditions, depending on a heat index value (atmospheric temperature and humidity). The system comprises of a wristband, a hardware kit and an alert system which can pre-notify a wearer regarding his body parameter readings. Moreover, the system can also work as a problem solver, in heat stroke condition,… Show more

“…This can be used to infer that skin temperature is a useful attribute for evaluating heat-related illness too. [41] has presented a wristband IoT device to detect heat stroke. The research includes Arduino Nano as the microcontroller and sensors such as body temperature (MLX90614), blood oxygen level sensor (Sp02) and environmental temperature and humidity (SHT75) to collect the data.…”

“…These studies show that there is room for further improvement in the QoS of IoT. As IoT applications are vital in different parts of life, such as health monitoring [13,14] or intrusion detection [15], there is still a need to improve existing algorithms and improve the throughput, latency, packet loss, and performance of the IoT server by reducing the number of packets.…”

“…In response to this pressing issue, this paper presents a comprehensive study on enhancing child safety by designing and developing an IoT-based Vehicular Heatstroke Sensor Device (VHSD). By leveraging the capabilities of IoT technology, the VHSD integrates advanced sensors, real-time monitoring, and cloud connectivity to provide an effective solution for detecting and addressing the dangers of vehicular heatstroke incidents [4,5]. Research findings indicate that approximately 10% of child deaths are attributed to heatstroke caused by parental or caretaker negligence [6].…”
