Pest survey card on Agrilus auroguttatus

Abstract: This pest survey card was prepared in the context of the EFSA mandate on plant pest surveillance (M-2017-0137), at the request of the European Commission. The purpose of the document is to assist the Member States to plan annual survey activities of quarantine organisms using a statistically sound and risk-based pest survey approach, in line with current international standards. The data requirements for such an activity include the pest distribution, its host range, its biology and risk factors, as well as av… Show more

“…It is known that for Agrilus species no reliable (single) method exists for detecting low levels of infestation (EFSA, 2020a, EFSA, 2020b, EFSA, 2020c). Detection methods include trapping, biosurveys with wasps and girdling of trees, but these usually are not effective with regard to timely detection and early response, which are critical factors to prevent impacts on plant health.…”

“…The value of the estimates resulting from such surveys also depends on the representativeness of the sampling in relation to the scope of the survey. Examples of such studies of relevance for EFSA are The European Union One Health 2022 Zoonoses Report (EFSA and ECDC, 2023a); reports on antimicrobial resistance (EFSA and ECDC, 2023b); surveys for plant harmful organisms ('pests') relevant to the EU's plant health policy for which EFSA provides survey data sheets (EFSA, 2020) and reports on pesticide residues in food (EFSA, 2020) and dietary surveys (Ioannidou et al., 2021).…”
