Petrology of Gabbroides and Isotope Signature of Sulfide Mineralization from Fedorov-Pansky Layered Mafic Intrusion, Kola Peninsula, Russia

Abstract: Samples from Fiodoro-Pansky massif were investigated by polarized light microscopy, EDS electron microscopy and isotope ratio mass spectrometry. We have observed four-stage ore mineralization: (1) magmatic Fe-Ti-oxides, (2) sulfide-ferrous oxide, (3) hydrothermal Cu-Ni-sulfide with haycokite, talnakhite and galena admixture, (4) tiosulfates formed from pyrrhotite. A few sulfide samples from generations (2) and (4) were investigated isotopically. The second generation is isotopically homogenous with δ 34 S clos… Show more

“…Similar results were also observed in the isotopic studies of sulfides taken from drilling and surface sampling troctolites and gabbro and contact zones of the central massif Fiodoro-Pana Tundra. They showed serious evidence multi-sulfide and oxide mineralization stages in establishing the changes in the isotopic distribution of the alloy from which the crystallization was emerged (Huber et al, 2009).…”

“…These rocks metamorphosed in the amphibolite and granulite facies [18,19]. Alkaline metavolcanic rocks and granitoid intrusions occur in the vicinity of the discussed pegmatite sites [20][21][22]. This is the case in the Kaustinen and Kolmozero areas, where numerous pegmatite veins can be found in these rocks [23][24][25][26].…”

“…In the blocks belonging to the NKT, there are rocks of dunite and harzburgite, and clinopyroxenite rocks containing chromites (Figure 4A) and olivine-pyroxene bodies (Figure 4B). In the area of Sopcha, Nyud, and Poaz, there are orthopyroxenites, olivine norites and gabbronorites-also with numerous interesting zones showing the rhythm of the formation of intrusion [37,[50][51][52][53]. In the Hippik area, the gabbro is exposed [37,38].…”
