“…The effect is at best minor, although in the present study indomethacin caused both a significant decrease in the amount of sodium excreted in the first hour, and a small inhibition of urine flow in the first 40 min after frusemide. Although controversial (Chennovasin et al, 1980), it seems unlikely that indomethacin interferes with the renal excretion of frusemide (Data et al, 1978). However only a very small change in delivery of the drug to the ascending limb of Henle could probably explain the observed effects on sodium excretion.…”

“…There was no significant differences of AUC, total plasma clearance, volume of distribution, and elimination half life between the two treatments. The amount of furosemide delivered into the urine is more directly related to response than is serum concentration of furosemide (14). Urine furosemide excretions between the two treatments were not different.…”

“…Since probenecid decreases the clearance and increases the half-life of frusemide in man (Homeida et al, 1977;Honari et al, 1977;Chennavasin et al, 1979) and as the two drugs are quite often given together in clinical practice, the extent to which probenecid affects the diabetogenic action of frusemide in human patients remains to be examined.…”

“…Pretreatment with probenecid abolishes the diuretic response to frusemide in dogs (Hook & Williamson, 1965) and in cats (Friedman & Roch-Ramel, 1977). In humans, pretreatment with probenecid decreases renal and non-renal clearance of frusemide (Homeida et al, 1977;Honari et al, 1977;Chennavasin et al, 1979) with an increase in the plasma concentration and half-life of the drug (Homeida et al, 1977;Honari et al, 1977).…”
