Pharmacokinetics of Cefquinome in Layer Birds Following Intramuscular and Intravenous Administration

Abstract: Cefquinome is approved for use against many bacterial infections in a number of animal species. This study was conducted to evaluate the pharmacokinetics of Cefquinome after intramuscular (IM) and intravenous (IV) administration in layer birds for its safety evaluation. Twelve healthy layer birds were randomly allocated in two equal groups. Each group was administered with 5mg/kg b.w. of Cefquinome by intramuscular and intravenous routes. Highly sensitive high performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet… Show more

“…The pharmacokinetic profiles differ with respect to specie, drug preparation, method of exposure, and physiological status of animal, which effect the efficacy of drug (Canga et al, 2009;Saleem et al, 2019;Toutain et al, 2010). The PO, IM, and IV doses were selected on the basis of earlier studies in pigs and dogs (Sattar et al, 2016;Ning et al, 2013).…”

“…Our research was focused on the search for natural alternatives to antibiotics because of their residues and subsequent occurrence of resistance (Abu‐Dieyeh & Abu‐Darwish, ). Pharmacokinetics evaluation is vital for the drug safety determination as well as to predict dosing strategies (Mouton et al, ; Saleem et al, ). This study describes the pharmacokinetics of TQ after PO and IV administration in layer chickens.…”
