Pharmacologic Erection Programs: A Treatment Option for Erectile Dysfunction

Abstract: Pharmacologic erection programs involve the self-injection of vasoactive agents directly into the penis to create an erection. Used with success for erectile dysfunction, this technique has provided another nonsurgical option for rehabilitation patients experiencing sexual dysfunction. The use of these vasoactive agents also has altered understanding of erectile physiology and the associated ability to make accurate diagnoses.
