Pharmacological Assessment of Antiulcer Activity of Gloriosa Superba Linn Tubers in Experimentally Induced Gastric Ulcers

Abstract: In a study, the potential of hydroalcoholic and petroleum ether extract of Gloriosa superba Linn (GS) tubers in the mitigation of antisecretory and antiulcer was studied. Both extracts were tested at 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg/p.o. using ethanol, and cold stress as toxicants. Both the extracts showed significant ulcer protection at the highest dose of 400mg/kg as compared to standard drug lansoprazole.
