Pharmacological evaluation of ameliorative effect of aqueous extract of Cucumis sativus L. fruit formulation on wound healing in Wistar rats

Abstract: Aim:The aim of present investigation was to formulate and evaluate the ameliorative effect of aqueous extract of Cucumis sativus L. fruit cream formulation on experimentally induced wounds in rats. Materials and Methods: The cream was formulated using soft white paraffin base containing 2.5%, 5%, and 10% w/w of aqueous extract of of Cucumis sativus L. fruit. Excision wounds of size 300 mm 2 and 2 mm depth were used for the study of rate of contraction of wound and epithelization. All the three formulations wer… Show more

“…8 The process of wound healing is a finely coordinated and controlled process, regulated by numerous factors and is inclusive of-hemostasis, inflammation, granulation, and repair. 9,10 Supporting players in the process of wound healing include blood cellular components, keratinocytes, various growth and proinflammatory mediators, and endothelial cells. The background mechanism of the wound-healing process has been vaguely clarified, but overall anyone of the above factors may modulate or delay the process of wound healing in diabetes.…”

“…Cytotoxic, antifungal and antibacterial activity activities have been reported from leaves and stems extracts. [8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15] Colorimetric reactions are widely used in the UV/Vis spectrophotometric method, which is easy to perform, rapid and applicable in routine laboratory use and low cost. Phosphomolybdic acid is widely employed as a reagent in quantitative analysis of several drugs.…”
