Pharyngolaryngeale Beschwerden nach Allgemeinanästhesien

Abstract: Laryngeal and pharyngeal complaints are among the subjective problems most frequently reported by patients after general anaesthesia involving endotracheal intubation, others being pain, nausea and vomiting. Hoarseness, sore throat, and vocal cord injuries restrict patients' social lives, and in some cases also their working lives. The most frequent types of laryngeal injury are swollen mucosa and haematoma of the vocal cords. Vocal cord paralysis occurs much less frequently. Knowledge of the pathophysiologica… Show more

“…According to the literature, appearance of hoarseness after short-term endotracheal intubation can occur in 14.4% to 50% of patients ( 1 , 16 , 17 ). These data refer to short-term endotracheal intubation regardless of the type of surgery and part of the human body that was operated on ( 18 ).…”

“…Laryngo-pharyngeal complications, such as POST, hoarseness, dysphagia, and cough, may occur after general anesthesia [14], but it is worth nothing that these laryngo-pharyngeal complications develop in most patients after thyroidectomy [7]. Since these complications are mainly associated with endotracheal intubation and cuff pressure, the cuff pressure of the endotracheal tube is monitored continuously in patients with open thyroidectomy [8].…”

“…Laryngeal complaints are common among patients following endotracheal intubation with an incidence of dysphonia varying between 14.4% and 50%. 1,2 Even more severe findings such as glottic hematoma, laceration, and subluxation of the cricoarytenoid joint have been reported (up to 6.2%). 3 Although dysphonia is reported less frequently following a supraglottic airway (SGA), injuries, such as cricoarytenoid subluxation and recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy have been reported.…”
