“…On the other hand, the EC(Bi2O3) sensor showed the largest CO and H2 responses among all the EC(MO) sensors. The Bi2O3, which has some oxygen vacancies in the lattice [35], has been applied as a component of various oxidation catalysts to organic molecules [36], CO [37], and H2S [38]. We also have reported that the Bi2O3 addition into Pt electrode largely enhanced the CO-sensing properties of NASICON-based solid electrolyte gas sensors at RT [39].…”

“…Metal oxide composites such as Nb 2 O 5 /Fe 2 O 3 , Co 3 O 4 /SiO 2 , Fe 2 O 3 /SiO 2 , V 2 O 5 /SiO 2 , and V 2 O 5 /Bi 2 O 3 are effective for this reaction . Park et al reported a 10%V 2 O 5 /SiO 2 catalyst for the reaction of H 2 S with NH 3 at 260 °C (GHSV = 60,000 h –1 and H 2 S/O 2 /NH 3 /H 2 O = 5%/2.5%/10%/60%) .…”

“…As will be discussed later, this SO 2 production comes from the oxidation of H 2 S with excess oxygen (H 2 S + (3/2)O 2 → SO 2 + H 2 O) or from the oxidation of sulfur with oxygen (S + O 2 → SO 2 ). In our previous work on the selective oxidation of H 2 S over V 2 O 5 [16], we reported that an oxidized form of vanadium having very active surface oxygen produced only SO 2 . When V 2 O 5 was reduced to a suboxide after the reaction with H 2 S, the production of SO 2 decreased and only sulfur was produced when labile oxygen in vanadium was depleted by the treatment with pure hydrogen sulfide.…”
