“…It is worth noting that, while pure carbide melts at about 2350°C, the ZrB2-B4C system presents a eutectic at a significantly lower temperature (just above 2200°C) [40,48]. The solidification microstructures observed in this work do not support the eutectic formation as the typical lamellas formed during solidification were only very sporadically and locally observed (Figure S6).…”

“…The patterns show the presence of only ZrB2 crystalline phase (a = b = 3.169 Å, c = 3.531 Å; α = β = 90°, γ = 120°) in good agreement with the literature, where the presence of B4C is reported to be observable by XRD only for concentrations in excess to 20 wt%. [40,48] FEM simulation was carried out to estimate whether the temperature reached during UHS could reasonably lead to B4C melting. Figure 4 shows that the maximum felt temperature and the average sample temperature, as well as the duration of the transient before reaching the temperature plateau, are affected by the considered configuration.…”

“…Although no impurity phase could be detected in the XRD pattern of ZrB 2 powders, it does not mean the absence of such surface oxides. According to the literature, the surface of ZrB 2 particles is naturally covered by the ZrO 2 and B 2 O 3 ingredients, which can be detrimental to the sintering behavior of ZrB 2 [40,41]. Such impurities not only prevent from forming powerful bonding amongst the adjacent particles, but they may result in grain growth during sintering [42][43][44].…”

“…Thus they become toxic to the environment, hazardous to aquatic life and harmful to growing plants [ 1 ]. The dyestuffs owing to their persistent nature and high aqueous stability could become part of the food chain ultimately posing severe threats to human beings [ 2 , 3 ]. Therefore, over the last decade, the awareness of the concepts of sustainable textiles and controlled production strategy demands ideally zero emissions of contaminants from industry into the aquatic environment.…”
