Phase equilibria in the NdBr 3 -MBr binary systems (M = Na, K) were established by differential scanning calorimetry. The system with NaBr is a simple eutectic system with two compounds that decompose in the solid state (NaNdBr 4 at 603 K and Na 3 NdBr 6 at 580 K). In the system with KBr, three stoichiometric compounds exist. First (K 3 NdBr 6 ) is formed from KBr and K 2 NdBr 5 at 680 K and melts congruently at 918 K. Second (KNd 2 Br 7 ) melts congruently at 814 K. Third compound (K 2 NdBr 5 ) melts incongruently at 822 K.
