Phase Equilibria and Phase Diagrams of the Li+, Na+//Cl, CO32––H2O System at 323.15 and 348.15 K

Abstract: The solubility equilibrium of Li+, Na+//Cl–, CO3 2– −H2O quaternary systems at 323.15 K and 348.15 K was studied via the isothermal solubility equilibrium method, and the complete phase diagrams were obtained including the properties of liquid density and pH. Solid species of LiCl·H2O, Li2CO3, NaCl, and Na2CO3·H2O are found in the quaternary system at 323.15 K and 348.15 K, and one double salt of Li2CO3·Na2CO3 is found at 348.15 K. The liquid phase of two invariant points and five univariant curves at 323.15 a… Show more

“…The stable phase equilibrium of the quaternary system was studied via the isothermal phase equilibrium method. 30 Several sets of phase equilibrium SL mixtures were prepared starting from ternary cosaturated points by adding third salt. The solid and liquid amounts of each SL mixture were predesigned to keep the volume ratio from 1/6 to 1/10 when the SL phase equilibrium (SLE) was achieved.…”

“…Wet solid samples are used for chemical analysis and identify the solid species by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and liquid samples are used for chemical analysis and the determination of density and pH. The details of the sampling procedure have been described in previous articles in our laboratory. , A brief summary is as follows: Wet solid sample: discharging the solid–liquid mixture from the bottom port of the SLE tank; separating solid and liquid phase rapidly by isothermal filtration; and drying the wet solid sample by filter paper. Liquid sample: stirring is stopped and the solid–liquid mixture is settled in the SLE tank until the liquid phase becomes completely clear; taking the liquid sample through the top port. …”
