“…Distribution ratios of actinides and europium using A: 70% vol FS-13 and 30% vol TBP; B: 100% vol FS-13 and 10 mM CyMe 4 -BTBP; and C: 70% vol FS-13, 30% vol TBP, and 10 mM CyMe 4 -BTBP as the organic phase and 4 M HNO 3 as the aqueous phase. Data retrieved from Halleröd et al [34]. extraction of europium seems to be stable throughout the experiment, with a distribution ratio of 0.05, whereas the extraction of americium slowly increases over time.…”

“…It is important to understand the behavior of the ingoing components in the extraction system in order to predict their future behavior in a process. A previously published study has shown that the combination of TBP and CyMe 4 -BTBP is beneficial for both americium and curium extraction using FS-13 as the diluent [34] . The distribution ratios of americium and curium reach 0.05 and 0.4, respectively, after 1 h of phase contacting in both the systems containing only one of the two extracting agents (70% vol FS-13 and 30% vol TBP or 100% vol FS-13 and 10 mM CyMe 4 -BTBP).…”

“…FS-13 has a high density, a low viscosity [ 38 ] and is a polar diluent with good chemical stability [ 39 ]. Chalmers GANEX systems using FS-13 as a diluent display sufficient stability against radiation, a high actinide extraction [ 23 ] and a selective extraction of the different metals [ 40 ].…”

“…Since CyMe4-BTBP preferentially extracts trivalent An, the extraction of tetra-and hexavalent An was due to an interaction with the diluent. 247 The solvent used for the extraction with CyMe4-BTBP also affected the selectivity towards transition metals. For example, with CyMe4-BTBP in TBP and cyclohexanone, several fission products (Pd, Ag, Cd) were co-extracted together with the An.…”
