Phloroglucinol averts isoprenaline hydrochloride induced myocardial infarction in rats

Abstract: Myocardial infarction (MI) is indicated by the symptoms like sharp chest pain, sweating, palpitations, and nervousness finally leading to heart attack. MI occurs mainly due to the risk factors like smoking, elevated blood pressure, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, obesity, decreased HDL level, elevated LDL level, hyperlipoproteinemia and aging consequently leads to demandable coronary blood supply, oxidative stress, and acute necrosis of the myocardium. Cardioprotective potential of the phloroglucinol (PG) was … Show more

“…However, in pathological conditions such as MI, the formation of ROS can severely disrupt this equilibrium, increasing the load on the antioxidant defence system 30 . In this investigation, the enzymes SOD, CAT, GPx and GSH activities have significantly reduced in the heart of ISO-administered rats accommodating to the previous studies 31,32 . Increased use of these enzymes for scavenging ROS and inactivation by high ISO oxidants could explain the decline in their activity.…”

“…ISP was dissolved in saline. 20 Groups 5 and 6 were treated with oral doses of TQ (10 and 20 mg/kg), respectively for 8 days and subcutaneously injected with ISP (86 mg/kg) on days 5 and 6. TQ doses were chosen according to a previous study.…”
