Abstract:Reactions between hydrazine or N,N-dimethylhydrazine and (CF3)2PI, (CF3)2PCl, (CF3)3P, and (CF3)2PNMe2 have been further investigated as synthetic routes to phosphinohydrazine compounds. The new compound N,N-dimethyl,N′-bis(trifluoromethyl)phosphinohydrazine (m.p. 40.45°, b.p. 112° extrapolated) is described, and instability of [(CF3)2P]xN2H4−x systems with respect to elimination of fluoroform is inferred.
