Abstract:Wnt signaling has been implicated in Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathogenesis, but no studies have described Wnt signaling in aging brain. Phosphorylation of the Wnt co-receptor, lowdensity lipoprotein receptor-related protein 6 (Lrp6), is a sensitive indicator of Wnt ligandreceptor interaction and canonical Wnt signaling. We report that in aged human temporal lobe, the phospho-Lrp6 (pLrp6) epitope localizes to neurons in the entorhinal cortex (EC), the dentate gyrus (DG), and the hippocampal formation, especiall… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
