“…The configuration of the cortical response to a flash light varies depending upon the species of experimental animals (KUHNT, 1967;JACOBSON et al, 1968), the anesthetized state (SUZUKI et al, 1967;HEISS et al, 1969), EEG stages (EBE and MIKAMI, 1962;HUGHES, 1964;MIMURA et al, 1967;SIERRA, 1968;BEGLEITER et al, 1969;MIMURA, 1971), the recording site (MIMURA and SATO, 1970) and the parameters of stimulus light such as the intensity (TAGAWA, 1966;KOPELL et al, 1969), the duration (STERIADE and IONESCU, 1967), the stimulus interval (NAGATA, 1971), the stimulus patterns (SPINELLI, 1967;HARTER and WHITE, 1970), and the wave length (SHIPLEY et al, 1968;CIGANEK and INGVER, 1969;MASSOPUST et al, 1969). Therefore, in the next five paragraphs, we will discuss the photically evoked cortical responses obtained only in the cat, for the purpose of comparison with the L-waves in our LAR and the several components of the visually evoked response (VER) recorded in dark adaptation.…”
