Photoactivated Fluorescence Enhancement in F,N‐Doped Carbon Dots with Piezochromic Behavior

Abstract: Photoactivation in CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) on UV/Vis light exposure improves photoluminescence (PL) and photostability. However, it was not observed in fluorescent carbon quantum dots (CDs). Now, photoactivated fluorescence enhancement in fluorine and nitrogen co‐doped carbon dots (F,N‐doped CDs) is presented. At 1.0 atm, the fluorescence intensity of F,N‐doped CDs increases with UV light irradiation (5 s–30 min), accompanied with a blue‐shift of the fluorescence emission from 586 nm to 550 nm. F,N‐doped C… Show more

“…In Fig. 2A, the full XPS spectrum displays three typical peaks at 284.9, 400.1, and 532.1 eV for C1s, N1s, and O1s, 15,16 respectively, which was consistent with the EDS result. The XPS spectrum of the C1s (Fig.…”

“… 41 The ordered structure of the Ph-CDs can be determined by the intensity ratio of these D and G bands ( I G / I D ). 42 I G / I D of Ph-CDs was 1.5 ( Table S2 ), which was higher than I G / I D of the previously reported CDs, 1.0, 43 indicating the high crystallinity of the graphite structure of Ph-CDs.…”

“…The controllable modification of the structure of a CQD is one of the most basic ways of achieving improved performance. [9,14] Thus, a great deal of effort has been made in the past few years concerning edge modification, lattice doping, and modifying the functional Carbon-based quantum dots (CQDs), including spherical carbon dots and graphene quantum dots, are an emerging class of photoluminescent (PL) materials with unique properties. Great progress has been made in the design and fabrication of high-performance CQDs, however, the challenge of developing solid-state PL CQDs have aroused great interest among researchers.…”
