Photoassisted Holography in Azo Dye Doped Polymer Films

Abstract: Holographic storage is one of the most important applications in the field of optics, especially for recording and retrieving data, and information storage by interference patterns in photosensitive materials are no exception in this regard. In this work, we give evidence that holograms recorded by interference of two coherent laser beams in azo dye doped polymer films can be controlled by a third incoherent assisting laser beam. We show that light diffraction can be increased or decreased by an assisting beam… Show more

“…In these experiments, the pump light was incident normal to the sample surface and no dependence on the pump polarization was observed. These results are somehow surprising, since the DR1 chromophores are strongly polarization sensitive [39]. The photoinduced shift of the Fano resonance is attributed to the change in the refractive index of the DR1-doped PMMA waveguide layer caused by the photoisomerization.…”

“…Gold NPs (Au-NPs) have been used for enhancing photovoltaic properties of dye-sensitized solar cells 28,29 and perovskite solar cells 30 , as well as in photocatalysis and environmental remediation [13][14][15]31,32 , and plasmonic photothermal therapy of cancer 33 as well as applications in imaging, sensing, biology and medicine 20 . Thin films containing photoresponsive units act as transducers that can convert incident light into molecular motion, resulting in numerous applications such as holography and data storage, as well as photomechanics and mass motion and micro-nano machines [34][35][36][37][38][39] , and so on 40,41 . For optically thin films, increasing the absorption results in improved transduction.…”

“…Исследование молекулярно-диспергированного азо-красителя XXXIII в пленке ПММА показало, что свой-ства поляризационных голограмм, в частности величи-на ДЭ, полученных при записи двумя когерентными пучками, существенно зависят от поляризации третьего некогерентного пучка (рис. 11) [137].…”
