“…Furthermore, in this study, the optimum photocatalyst for the photocatalytic discoloration of AF is found to be TS476-550, which implies 4.76 in wt.% is the preferable content of schorl in the composite photocatalyst for the rapid transfer of the photogenerated electrons from TiO 2 semiconductor to the interface of TiO 2 /schorl and tight adsorption of the electrons on the anode of schorl. The non-linear relationship between discoloration or removal ratios and support contents has been observed and discussed in many studies [2,7,19]. And, similar results have been found in the decomposition of 2-chlorophenol by tourmaline loaded on TiO 2 [29] and the degradation of methyl orange by SiO 2 /TiO 2 doping with tourmaline [42].…”

“…• OH is formed mainly by the oxidation of OH − or H 2 O via photogenerated holes (Eqs. (6) and (7)), and • OH is the chief oxidant for photocatalytic degradation in wastewater treatment [19]. Unfortunately, the holes show high affinities for the electrons and the high degree of the recombination of the electron-hole pairs is a major limiting factor controlling the photocatalytic efficiency.…”

“…According to Calderon et al [20], the optical response has already shifted into VL region. For this reason, immobilized/TiO 2 /PEG produced is visible-active by using PEG [21]. Nevertheless, through this research paper, the enhancement has been made better since less power and less chemical are consumed, as compared to the previous work.…”

“…γ-Al2O3 with high surface area is widely used as catalyst support because of its unique properties such as low thermal expansion, chemical stability, low conductivity, low dielectric constant, etc. [11][12][13][14]. Alumina based adsorbents have several advantages, including stability, high surface area, possible reuse, short adsorption contact time and high mechanical properties [4,13,18].…”
