Photocatalytic Degradation of Orange G Dye by Using Bismuth Molybdate: Photocatalysis Optimization and Modeling via Definitive Screening Designs

Abstract: In the current study, Bismuth molybdate was synthesized using simple co-precipitation procedure, and their characterization was carried out by various methods such as FT-IR, SEM, and P-XRD. Furthermore, the photocatalytic degradation of Orange G (ORG) dye using synthesized catalyst under visible light irradiation was studied. Response surface Method was used for the optimization of process variables and degradation kinetics evaluated by modeling of experimental data. Based on the experimental design outcomes, … Show more

“…The statistical significance of all model parameters was determined using a probability value of 0.05 with a 95% confidence level. The regression assumptions were verified using different diagnostic techniques, such as a graphical comparison of the predicted and experimental values, a normal probability plot of the studentized residuals, a continuous search for errors in the studentized residuals vs predicted plot, and a Box–Cox plot to determine whether power transformations were necessary . Minitab 19 (Minitab, USA) software was used to evaluate the data and provide a statistical model.…”

“…These types of dyes need special treatment due to their complex chemical structure and resistance to biodegradation [3]. Therefore, the treatment of wastewater containing the dye before discharging into the water bodies is of great importance [4].…”

“…The protection of the aquatic ecosystem is an indispensable link in the sustainable development of today's society. 1,2 As important sources of industrial sewage, dyes seriously endanger biological health. They not only are toxic, but their huge and complex molecular structures can also resist degradation using natural methods such as light and microbial action, reduce sunlight transmission, destroy plant photosynthesis, and directly endanger aquatic ecosystems.…”
