Abstract:The aim of this study is to propose a successful method for the treatment of water contaminated by pharmaceutical pollutants through homogeneous photocatalysis in the presence of decatungstate ions (W10O324−). Sulfamethazine (SMZ), a sulfonamide antibiotic, was used as a model molecule. The results showed that SMZ could be effectively degraded with this process under simulated solar irradiation. SMZ degradation kinetics were studied with different dioxygen and SMZ concentrations, pH values, and photocatalyst m… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
