“…Platinum-curcumin is another complex which has shown phototoxic and apoptosisinducing effects in cancer cells. This complex was found to induce cellular ROS and further apoptotic cell death under visible light [67,68]. Furthermore, this complex was found to synergistically enhance the chemotherapeutic effect of drugs and to sensitize cisplatin-resistant A549/DDP cells [69].…”

“…Along with cellular uptake, this metal complex profoundly influences the distribution and release mechanism of curcumin [112]. Moreover, platinum-curcumin complexes showed stability over a study period of 48 h [68]. Additionally, platinum-based nanoparticle-curcumin complexes have been shown to greatly improve the solubility as well as stability of curcumin [69].…”

“…27,28 In addition, the red and green light-active BODIPY-based platinum( ii ) complexes with different molecular designs reported earlier by us had catecholate or other O,O-donor ligands lacking similarity to the present complexes. 29–32 The review article of Guo and co-workers highlights the recent advancements in monofunctional platinum( ii ) chemistry. 33…”

“…The improvement of the anticancer performance of metal-based agents is an important task of modern chemistry . Among the numerous strategies aimed at enhancing both activity and selectivity of these molecules, conjugation with biologically active molecular fragments targeting tumor cells is very promising. In this context, our group has recently investigated Pt(II) complexes in 18 e– trigonal bipyramidal geometry ( tbp ) containing a sugar-based axial ligand ( 1 in Figure ). …”
