Photoelectron spectroscopy of boron-containing reactive intermediates using synchrotron radiation: BH2, BH, and BF

Abstract: Mass selected slow photoelectron spectra (SPES) of three boron-containing reactive species, BH2, BH, and BF were recorded by double imaging photoion–photoelectron coincidence spectroscopy (i2PEPICO) using synchrotron radiation.

“…Similar to Lloyd and Lynaugh, [9] it is tempting to attribute the vibrational progression in the cation to a single mode and determine the onset of the spectrum at 9.37 eV as the IE ad , yet ionization processes can be complex as seen in other boron containing compounds [16b] …”

“…The detailed setup has been described elsewhere. 35,36 Fluorine abstraction has been successfully used to generate a range of reactive molecules. [35][36][37][38][39][40][41][42][43] P(CH 3 ) 3 (97% pure) was procured from Sigma-Aldrich and used without further purification.…”

[35][36][37][38][39][40][41][42][43] P(CH 3 ) 3 (97% pure) was procured from Sigma-Aldrich and used without further purification. The sample vapour was introduced in a flow reactor through a quartz injector tube, which slides into another quartz reactor tube.…”

“…For room- and low-temperature kinetic studies at conditions relevant to the interstellar medium, a fluorine discharge source and a Laval nozzle instrument (CRESU) were successfully combined with PEPICO and commissioned at the DESIRS beamline at SOLEIL. , Impressive radical generation capabilities were demonstrated, and numerous well-resolved ms-TPES of highly reactive intermediates have been recorded, which are partially inaccessible in hot pyrolysis reactors. ,, By changing the fluorine discharge position in the reactor, kinetic measurements are theoretically possible, but proof-of-principle experiments are pending. Apart from these setups, a photolysis PEPICO experiment is being developed at Sandia National Laboratories to be used at the ALS in Berkeley …”
