Photoimageable thick-film millimetre-wave metal-piperectangular waveguides

Abstract: horn. This is realised by providing a groove discontinuity at the input of the horn. The depth and width of the groove discontinuity in the presence of corrugations and cascaded input waveguides were optimised using CHAMP software to obtain symmetrical as well as the amplitude taper. In the presence of a groove, the computed amplitudes of TEII, TMll and TE12 modes at the input of the corrugated horn are 0.84, 0.48 and 0.20, respectively, at 36.5 GHz. The multifrequency corrugated feed employing a groove discon… Show more

“…Nevertheless, when designing future very high-selectivity filters for which the confinement of the electromagnetic field is a problem, the designer must keep in mind the packaging aspect. As grounded CPW lines are not a very convenient solution, three-dimensional technological solutions using, for instance, thin-or thick-film microstrip transmission lines appear to be equally well suited (Rius et al, 2000-b), (Six et al, 2001), (Aftanasar et al, 2001), (Warns et al, 1998), (Schnieder & Heinrich, 2001 …”

“…In addition, a higher frequency design over the millimeter-wave frequency range and beyond will demand more and more fabrication precision. For this reason, the photoimageable thick film waveguides have been proposed by Aftanasar et al [8] and they were further developed in [9] and [10].…”

“…Indeed, for these reasons, it is the waveguide of choice for non-tuneable/reconfigurable applications above circa 100 GHz and many diverse technologies exist to realize integrated forms of the MPRWG [3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11].…”
