Photoinduced Regeneration of an Aptamer-Based Electrochemical Sensor for Sensitively Detecting Adenosine Triphosphate

Abstract: Electrochemical aptasensors generally include three elements, that is, recognition element, signal-transformation element, and regeneration element. In this study, a new adenosine triphosphate (ATP) aptasensor is developed by combining three elements into one DNA oligonucleotide chain. In the DNA oligonucleotide chain, DNA aptamer is used as the recognition element, ferrocene group attached at the 3'-end of the aptamer is used as the signal-transformation element, and azobenzene moiety embedded into the DNA ch… Show more

“…Single-stranded DNA was adsorbed on the surface of GO through π-π stacking, fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) occurred between PicoGreen dye combined with singlestranded DNA and GO, and fluorescence was quenched. But double-stranded DNA with perfect pairing did not have this property (Zhang et al 2018a;Li et al 2011;Zhang et al 2018b;Zhang et al 2018c). Scheme 1 exhibits the principle of an aptasensor for ATP detection.…”

“…More recently, azobenzene was incorporated into an aptamer‐based electrochemical sensor ( Figure A). [ 45 ] An ATP aptamer was modified internally with azobenzene, with the 3' terminus modified with ferrocene. In the trans conformation, the aptamer hairpin was stabilized, bringing the ferrocene close to the sensor surface and generating an electrochemical signal.…”

“…Although electrical aptasensors offer advantages such as simplicity, low cost, good sensitivity and selectivity, at present, their use in clinical laboratories remains limited [29]. A comprehensive review about the recent progress and challenges in designing electrochemical aptasensors, their effectiveness in protein disease biomarkers or contaminants detection in food and the environment is reported in [30][31][32][33].…”
