Photometric and Colorimetric Cyanide Detection Sensor Using Amine Based Nitrobenzoxadiazole Derivatives

Abstract: The fluorescent probes 7‐nitro‐N‐phenylbenzo[c][1,2,5]oxadiazol‐4‐amine (1), and 4‐((7‐nitrobenzo[c][1,2,5]oxadiazol‐4‐yl)amino)benzonitrile (2) were synthesised for the detection of cyanide ion (CN−). A new correlative approach with nitrobenzoxadiazole (NBD)‐based probes to detecting CN− by the Donor‐Acceptor D‐A (1) and Acceptor‐Donor‐Acceptor (A‐D‐A) (2) with the aid of DFT calculations are reported. Given their design features, these NBD probes 1 and 2 provide useful insights into the dual‐channel (fluorom… Show more

“…The fiber optical sensors with Au@Ag exhibited a great advantage of ultrahigh sensitivity over conventional methodologies, such as using fluorometry and colorimetry while ensuring sufficient operation range of CN – concentration for CN – quantitative sensors. Table summarizes the recently reported cyanide detection compared with the results presented in this work.…”

“…Depending upon the type of transducer, sensors can involve optical methods such as colorimetry, uorescence, chemiluminescence, and label-free detection; electrochemical sensors; and piezoelectric sensors. Among these sensor categories, [10][11][12][13][14][15] uorescence sensors are highly sensitive and facilitate direct measurement of CN − and S 2− ions at mg L −1 levels. The detection is based on the affinity of CN − and S 2− ions with metal nanoparticles such as gold and silver.…”
