Photon Conversion and Radiation Synergism in Eu/Tb Complexes Incorporated Poly Methyl Methacrylate

Abstract: Green and red emissions in terbium and europium benzoic acids (TBA and EBA) incorporated poly methyl methacrylates (PMMA) are exhibited. Larger intensity parametersΩ2(11.13×10-20 cm2) andΩ4(13.15×10-20 cm2) ofEu3+indicate a high inversion asymmetrical and strong covalent environment around lanthanide (Ln) ions and maximum emission cross sectionσem-max(2.45×10-21 cm2) for the dominant transitionD50→F27ofEu3+reveals the effective photon conversion capacity in EBA incorporated PMMA. Color variation and fluorescen… Show more

“…However, the most common use of carboxylic acids as ligands is as bidentate molecules, (dicarboxylic acids), which results in binuclear compounds, or even more lanthanide cations in its structure, [18][19][20] in which an indirect interaction between the metal centers through the ligands causes energy losses through non-radiative pathways [21]. It is also common to find in these complexes the presence of solvent in the coordination sphere of the final product, which does not favor luminescent emission mechanisms [22][23][24][25].…”

“…In addition, a polymer coating on the surface used for the designed purpose of a well-defined composite of materials and their dispersions offers a high potential of application in several fields [21][22][23][24]. There are mainly two methods to prepare Fe 3 O 4 @polymer composite particles: first polymer coating Fe 3 O 4 or modified Fe 3 O 4 is used directly [25][26][27]; second Fe 3 O 4 is first prepared by the coprecipitation of ferrous and ferric ions at the ratio of 1 : 2 in an alkaline medium and at the same time Fe 3 O 4 @polymer is prepared, because Fe 3 O 4 contains ferrous and ferric iron at this ratio [28,29].…”
