Photonic crystal multi-channel drop filters based on microstrip lines

Abstract: We propose photonic crystal (PC) multi-channel drop filters implemented using microstrip lines. Their performance is based on coupling between the cavity modes of microstrip PC cavities and the guiding modes of microstrip waveguides. The dropping frequency can be controlled by correct design of the cavity. The proposed multi-channel drop filter can be useful for implementing new types of functional microwave filters.
