Abstract:This Chapter summarizes the major advances in the photophysics of transition metal complexes, achieved in 2021 and 2022, covering mainly d-block metal complexes. The applications proposed span from photocatalysis and solar energy conversion to optoelectronics and bioimaging or photodynamic therapy. The previously observed trend to replace coinage metals, such as Pt, Ru and Re, with Earth-abundant first row transition elements has been confirmed.
