Photovoltaic Panels and Solar Collectors in Cityscape of Bialystok (Poland) and Cordoba (Spain)

Abstract: The technologies using of renewable sources energy like photovoltaic panels and solar collectors were used in Europe, mainly in southern countries (like Spain) until recently. EU policy of sustainable development and technological development impact on increase of popularity of those technologies in northern European countries like Poland. The research problem of the work is to determinate the appropriate conditions for the location of above-mentioned technology (panels) in the cityscape. The numerous examples… Show more

“…Another method is the construction of artificial walls and fences made of materials that correspond in structure, material, shape and colour to the environment, or serve as supports for decorative, fragrant and evergreen climbing plants. The use of wasteland and uncovered sites under photovoltaics elements -particularly important in urban areas (Smith, 2018;Gawryluk, Krawczyk and Rodero, 2022) and optimization of the location of such installations in cities (Zhu et al, 2022). Indirect methods that partially reduce the exposure or weaken the effect of the glare of the solar rays from the panels by placing a series of photovoltaic modules in an easterly direction were also discussed.…”

“…In their study on the integration of renewable energy technologies into urban landscapes, Gawryluk, Krawczyk, and Rodero (2022) highlight the challenges and considerations for the placement of photovoltaic panels and solar collectors in cities. Their work, which includes case studies from Poland and Spain, underscores the importance of balancing energy efficiency with architectural and landscape aesthetics to preserve cityscape values.…”
