“…The XRF scanning results show that 147 specimens of B. orientalis and 56 specimens of D. linearis accumulate Y in their leaves up to concentrations of 1424 and 697 µg g −1 , respectively. The fern D. linearis is widely documented for its REE (hyper)accumulation capabilities in China, but is in fact polyphyletic, representing a species complex of cryptic species ( Wei et al , 2022 ; Vieira Lima et al , 2023 ). This study reveals that some specimens of D. linearis accumulating >1000 µg g −1 REEs in their fronds are from Indonesia and the Philippines, but these populations may well represent distinct species within the D. linearis complex.…”

“…He et al from the Asselian of North China (He et al 2016(He et al , 2021. Chansitheca wudaensis is attributed to the crown group Gleicheniales (Lima et al 2023) or the stem group Gleicheniales (e.g. FTOL working group 2022) but, unfortunately, the ultrastructure of its in situ spores is unknown.…”

“…Molecular phylogenetic studies estimate that the Gleicheniales diverged in the early Permian (Schneider et al 2004;Schuettpelz & Pryer 2009;Nitta et al 2022;Lima et al 2023). This minimum divergence age is supported only by a few fossils that are assigned to the Gleicheniaceae based on several anatomical features (Nagalingum & Cantrill 2006;Taylor et al 2009;Galtier & Phillips 2014;Perrie & Brownsey 2015;Lima et al 2023).…”
