Physic-Chemical Evaluation of Urban Wastewater of the Town of Sidi Kacem

Abstract: The goal of this study is the evaluation of pollution by the physic-chemical characterization of urban wastewaters discharged in the river R'dom of the town Sidi Kacem. The motivation of this study is multiple firstly to give an answer to the choice of methods of treatment of raw sewage and secondly to raise awareness of the pollution of the river R'dom who is a source of irrigation in the region. The physic-chemical analyses were carried out on the level of the collector 1 (domestic collector of the Zaouia Di… Show more

“…In this study, sludge records a mean SM concentration of 39 g/L, with a minimum concentration of 6.7 g/L and a maximum concentration of 100.7 g/L. These values fall well above the Moroccan SM limit of 50 mg/L [20]. High VSS contents were also recorded during summer and autumn, most likely due to the concurrent flooding of the Sidi Mohammed ben Abdallah dam.…”

“…The recorded water temperature can generally be considered moderate, as it falls between 14 • C and 19 • C. Both of these different temperatures fall below 30 • C, a temperature that represents the limiting value of direct discharge into the receiving environment. Likewise, temperatures under 35 • C generally represent limits for irrigation water [20].…”

“…Together with the characteristics of alum sludge from Bouregreg WTP in Morocco, the average VS value was the highest (12,696±263.3 mg/L) ( Table 3). This might be caused by heavy industrial and domestic waste pollution in sources [El Rhaouat et al, 2014]. The ratio of VS/TSS of the sludge sample is 1.01.…”
