Physical education and health as a child’s right: Reflections on the Soweto Active Schools programme

Abstract: The high obesity rates in South Africa affect 7 out of 10 females and 4 out of 10 males, and an estimated 50% of children who do not meet the recommended physical activity requirements (Janssen et al. 2005).
