<div><p>This article presents the monitoring results of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in surface water of the Dnieper River for the period 2011–2019. Total levels of OCPs, PCBs and PAHs consist of 1,4–17,1; 2,8–57,2; and 7,5–378,6 ng/L, respectively. A significant increase in pollution levels was not identified. Research results of the disperse-phase distribution of these substances in water were also provided. Less than half of the total contents of pollutants were in the water phase. Average water-soluble parts of OCPs, PCBs, and PAHs accounted for 32, 42, and 44 %, respectively. It was shown that water-soluble parts of individual pollutants decrease with the increase in <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">the</span> coefficients of hydrophobicity of compounds. The clearest reliable, relevant correlation between water-soluble parts of individual congeners and coefficients of hydrophobicity was obtained for PCBs.</p></div><p align="center"><strong><br /></strong></p>

The monitoring results of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Ukranian and world surface river waters were summarized. Total concentrations of OCPs, PCBs and PAHs in surface waters of Ukrainian rivers (Dnieper and Dniester) were 1.4–17.1; 2.8–57.2; 7.5–378.6 ng/dm3 , respectively. These pollution levels are medium on a global scale. Higher concentrations were recorded in the surface water of China, India and other Asian countries. Distribution of these organic ecotoxicants between water and suspended particulate matter (dispersionphase distribution) was analyzed and it was shown that in the majority of river waters ≥50% of them are associated with suspended particles. By the case of River Dnieper antibate correlations between watersoluble parts of individual OCPs, PCBs and PAHs and coefficient of their hydrophobicity were recorded. These correlations were presented graphically. In addition, relevant correlation coefficients and criterions of probability were calculated. The clearest correlation was established for PCBs.

The procedure for the determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) in agricultural products on the example of five crops (rapeseed, sunflower, flax, corn, soybeans) by gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was developed. It was showed the advantage of using binary mixtures of organic solvents "hexanedichloromethane" for PAH extraction. The time of Soxhlet extraction is from 6 to 8 hours at optimized conditions. The fractionation and purification of extracts by column chromatography on deactivated alumina was optimized. The article presents the optimization of sample injection in the programmed temperature vaporization (PTV) mode, parameters of gas chromatographic separation and mass spectrometric detection in determining 16 priority PAH in agricultural products. The recoveries, correctness and accuracy of the proposed method were checked by “spikes” with concentrations 0.5, 1.0, 2.5, 5.0 μg kg-1. The linearity of the method was determined by calibration curves obtained for three measurements of calibration solutions with concentrations of 0.5-100 ng mL-1. The effectiveness of the proposed combination of sample preparation and analysis by PTV-GC-MS was studied for linearity, accuracy, matrix effects and reproducibility. The method was validated by linearity, accuracy, matrix effect and reproducibility.
