Physical (In)activity and Glutamate Receptor Activation in the Rostral Ventrolateral Medulla of Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats

Abstract: A sedentary lifestyle is a major risk factor for hypertension. Treatment of hypertension with regular exercise can be beneficial if prescribed appropriately. Hypertension is associated with sympathetic overactivity and excessive glutamatergic excitation of the rostral ventrolateral medulla (RVLM).
