Physical Properties of Cement-Sodium Silicate Grout with Kaolinite

Abstract: Grouting has been a substantial ground improvement technique in geotechnical engineering practice. For many years, sodium silicate grouts and a large number of chemical compounds were produced providing a wider selection for grouting. This paper presents the effect of cement, kaolinite and sodium silicate on the rheological properties of sodium silicate grout. The tests performed are for defining the mathematical behavior of the grout. Shrinkage, pH and specific gravity of cementsodium silicate grout along wit… Show more

“…Aluminosilicate-based materials, such as synthetic zeolites or alkali activated materials (AAM), also referred to as geopolymers, have many applications in various areas such as catalysis or adsorption processes for separation, 1,2 construction materials, 3,4 wastewater treatment by ionic exchange processes, 5,6 soil stabilization by grouting 7,8 as well as in the nuclear industry. [9][10][11][12][13] For both classes of materials, the synthesis process relies on polycondensation reactions that occur in the molecular scale between alkali silicate and aluminate species in solution.…”
