The phase compatibility diagram of the Ag 2 Se-CdSe-SnSe-Se region in the Ag-Cd-Sn-Se system at T ≤ 600 K has been constructed using physicochemical characterization techniques and emf measure ments. The emf (E) of C | Ag | AgI | Ag 2 GeS 3 glass | D | C electrochemical cells (where C stands for an inert (graphite) electrode; Ag and D denote the electrodes of the cell; D is an equilibrium two , three , or four phase alloy of the Ag-Cd-Sn-Se system; and AgI | Ag 2 GeS 3 glass is a bilayer membrane with purely ionic (Ag + ) conduc tivity) has been measured as a function of temperature in the range 480-580 K. Analytical equations for the E(T) data were used to calculate the standard thermodynamic functions of saturated solid solutions based on the β Ag 2 Se, β Ag 8 SnSe 6 , AgSnSe 2 , Ag 2 CdSnSe 4 , CdSnSe 3 , and SnSe phases of the Ag-Cd-Sn-Se system.
