Physical Properties of Liquid Eutectic Ionic Systems NaF−LaF3 and NaF−NdF3

Abstract: Physical properties-viscosity, electric conductivity, and thermoelectric power-of liquid ionic systems NaF-LaF3 and NaF-NdF3 at eutectic concentrations have been studied. K e y w o r d s: liquid ionic systems, eutectics, viscosity, electric conductivity, thermal emf.

“…At the same time, a similar description of 𝑆(𝑇 ) in the NaF-LiF-LaF 3 system requires three 𝑑𝑆 𝑑𝑇 derivatives. One of the reasons that are responsible for such a behavior of the temperature dependence of the thermal emf and its relatively high absolute values (about 1000 𝜇V/K) in comparison with those in liquid metals (about 10 𝜇V/K) and liquid semiconductors (about 100 𝜇V/K) is the heat transfer by ions, which makes a substantial contribution to 𝑆(𝑇 ), the latter being probably sensitive to the structure of salt melts [10,11]. Note that, in the liquid state, the researched specimens of both systems consist of oppositely charged ions and a small fraction of non-ISSN 2071-0194.…”

“…The outcomes of these investigations are presented in books [3,4]. The critical properties of fluids are in the sphere of L. Bulavin's interests [5], especially the stratification processes in monotectic and eutectic metal fusions [6]. His works devoted to the development of the global isomorphism approach between the Lennard-Jones fluids and the lattice gas (LG) model for calculating the loci of critical points for such fluids [7] and deriving the explicit relations between the basic thermodynamic functions of the LG model and the continuum fluid [8] are well-known.…”
