Physics electronic teaching material-integrated STEM education to promote 21st-century skills

Abstract: There is widespread agreement that 21st-century skills are skills that should be possessed by students in the current era; however, generally, the component value of these skills is low. This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of the physics electronic teaching material-integrated STEM education (PETMS) in improving the 21st-century skills of students. This research was an experimental study with a post-test-only design with a non-equivalent group. The research subjects consisted of 66 students in … Show more

“…The STEM-EDP approach increases student activity better than the regular STEM approach (Abdurrahman et al, 2023). STEM accommodates students' scientific activities, for example, looking for solutions to real problems (Asrizal et al, 2022) and being active in learning (Mardian et al, 2023).…”

“…The results of this study also support other relevant studies that implement STEM-based teaching materials in science subjects, including physics and chemistry. For example, Asrizal et al (2022) shows that using STEM-based electronic teaching materials in physics subject can support students' 21st-century skills. In addition, the use of STEM-based teaching materials in chemistry subjects can also improve learning outcomes (Handayani et al, 2022) and students' scientific literacy (Kusasi et al, 2021).…”

“…Students are motivated and encouraged to integrate disciplines from STEM to solve real-world problems, create meaningful learning, and develop their various skills [29][30][31]. STEM can encourage students to create connections between knowledge and real-world problems, connect science with technology and engineering, connect science and technology with culture, and provide a variety of digital skills [32][33][34]. Thus, applying STEM in learning can encourage students' various abilities.…”
