Physiological Characteristics of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo as Compared To Muay Thai

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the physical characteristics, such as strength, flexibility, agility and balance of participants who competed in Muay Thai and how they may differ from those who compete in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo. “…The absence of difference between dominant and nondominant leg performance in the BB group was an expected result due to their symmetrical training approaches. MT athletes, however, perform movements and strike combinations with their dominant extremities while maintaining stabilization and support on their nondominant legs (Jungman & Wilson, 2016;Turner, 2009).
