Abstract:Over the last decades, several computational (in silico) methods have been developed and applied to test pharmacological hypotheses. An important hypothesis is that the therapeutic activity of many commonly used antidepressants may be partially mediated through the inhibition of different nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs). This is based on pathologic conditions where the activity of the cholinergic system is exacerbated compared to the adrenergic system. Different in silico methods, including comparat… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
