Phytochemistry and antimicrobial compounds of Hymenocrater calycinus

Abstract: The genus, Hymenocrater, belongs to the plant family Lamiaceae which contains eleven shrub species, of which H. calycinus belonges and grows wildly in Northeastern Iran. From the ethyl acetate and methanol extracts of the flowered aerial parts of Hymenocrater calycinus, four compounds were isolated using chromatographic methods and identified by spectroscopic data (MS, 1 H-and 13 C-NMR, HMQC, HMBC and 1 H-1 H COSY). The effect of rosmarinic acid, as the main component in our study was applied to Staphylococcus… Show more

“…The IR spectrum showed absorption bands at 3165, 1707 and 1617 cm −1 indicating the presence of hydroxyl groups and carboxylic acid function. Its spectral data were in agreement with those previously reported in the literature for the same compound 23, 24, 25, 26. Different spectroscopic data like HMBC, HMQC, and 1 H- 1 H COSY of the isolated compound is presented in Table 3.

“…The isolated compounds from aerial parts of C. erythraeum were identified as isoquercetin (1), rutin (2), 13,14 along with β-sitosterol (3), [15][16][17] and 2-decenol (4) based on the spectroscopic data ( 1 H-NMR, 13 C-NMR) and compared to the pertinent spectroscopic data in previously published literature (Figure 1). 9 To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on the isolation and elucidation of secondary metabolites of C. (Table 1).…”
