Phytoecdysteroids from Serratula coronata L. for Psoriatic Skincare

Abstract: Phytoecdysones from Serratula coronata seem to be promising agents for skincare in patients with psoriasis. The aim of the study was to determine the effects of creams containing the extract of S. coronata on psoriatic lesions. Creams with different formulas were prepared: 0-Lekobaza®, 1-Lekobaza®, S. coronata, 2-Lekobaza®, Salicylic acid, 3-Lekobaza®, S. coronata, Salicylic acid. After examination of skin penetration and biosafety, the designated cream was applied twice daily for 6 weeks on 72 psoriatic plaqu… Show more

“…26 The aerial part (leaves, stems) of SCR, found in Central Kazakhstan (Karaganda region) exhibits a signicant enrichment of various phytoecdysteroids and avonoids. [27][28][29] Notably, the phytoecdysones derived from SCR promise as potential agents for the treatment of different skin diseases, [30][31][32] while avonoids demonstrate noteworthy antioxidant activity. 33 Despite the abundant presence of secondary metabolites in SCR, which are known to be capable of reducing metal ions, this plant remains relatively understudied as a potential precursor for the biogenic synthesis of catalytically active metal oxide nanoparticles.…”

“…Kroma A. et al [ 1 ] documented the beneficial effect of creams with ethanolic extract from the herb known as Serratula coronata in the treatment of psoriatic patients. The authors determined the primary group of components of this extract responsible for a significant reduction in the area of psoriatic plagues and improvement in skin conditions was probably ecdysteroids.…”
