Abstract:The effect of picosecond ramp of ultrashort laser pulse is investigated with the help of particle-in-cell simulations. It is shown that the ramp changes cutoff energies and numbers of ions accelerated from laser-irradiated target depending on laser pulse intensity. It can also substantially change the interaction of the main high-intensity part of the pulse with thin membrane used as a plasma shutter to shape laser pulse temporal profile.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
