Piezoelectromagnetic waves in a ceramic plate between two ceramic half-spaces

Abstract: We analyze the propagation of piezoelectromagnetic waves guided by a plate of polarized ceramics between two ceramic half-spaces. An exact dispersion relation is obtained, which reduces to a few known elastic, electromagnetic, and quasistatic piezoelectric wave solutions in the literature as special cases. Numerical solutions to the equation that determines the dispersion relation show the existence of guided waves. The results are useful for acoustic wave and microwave devices.

“…When k e = 0.00, the solution degenerates to the case of an elastic-PM bi-material containing a semi-infinite crack along the interface. (4): c e sh 6 c m sh Similarly, the dynamic intensity factors of stress, electric displacement and magnetic induction as well as energy release rate (ERR) for case (3) and (4) can be found in Jiang et al (2006) and Liu et al (2008). Three kinds of the bi-materials combining CoFe 2 O 4 with BaTiO 3 , PZT-4 and PZT-7 correspond to three different cases correspond to three cases analyzed in the previous section (see Table 3).…”
