Pigments in Ancient Manuscripts and Paintings Brought to Life by Raman Spectroscopy: A Short Review

Abstract: The current review focusses on the importance of Raman spectroscopy in identification of pigments in ancient manuscripts and panel and canvas paintings. The major advantage of Raman spectroscopy is its non-destructive nature and its capacity of In situ analysis.
